Understanding Caldwell County Releases
“Released” describes the end of custody by one agency. It does not always mean a person is free of every hold, case, sentence, or supervision term. Someone can leave Caldwell County Jail on bond while the criminal case continues. Caldwell County Release Record Fields
Caldwell County does not publish a field dictionary for release records. A focused request should seek an existing booking or release sheet and name the fields needed, if maintained and public. The booking number ties the event to one jail stay. Date and time fields distinguish booking from physical release. Charges, bonds, warrants, and detainers help explain why a court order did or did not result in an immediate exit.

A court docket answers a different question. It may show a bond order, plea, dismissal, sentence, revocation, or later sealing action, but it may not show the minute a jail door opened. IVSS is a status lead, not a certified record. Reconcile all three when the exact event matters.

Texas law calls for prompt production within a reasonable time. It does not promise every record within ten business days. That deadline usually concerns an agency request for an Attorney General ruling when information may be withheld. Caldwell says it will give notice if it refers material for such a ruling and will provide a cost estimate before fulfillment. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs county and TDCJ public-information requests. A government body need not answer questions, conduct research, or create a record that does not exist. Nondisclosure limits public access to covered criminal-history information but does not destroy it and leaves access for listed entities. Neither process guarantees that every copy once posted elsewhere will vanish.

Classify the custody before searching. A person booked at Caldwell County Jail belongs in the local chain. Someone held at Coleman Unit belongs in the state-prison chain, even though the unit is in Lockhart. Federal sentences use BOP. ICE detention uses ODLS and an ERO field office. Searching the wrong system is a common reason a released person seems to disappear.

- Confirm the listed identity and agency. Treat the result as a lead because IVSS is not an official record.

The TDCJ online inmate search expressly covers people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. It is useful before release, but it is not a historical search for discharged prisoners. Search by an exact last name plus first initial, a seven-digit TDCJ number, or a SID. Gender and race can narrow results. Compare identifiers before using location, offense, projected release date, or parole-review data.
The distinction matters after release, when the former prisoner's record may no longer appear in the live search.

For a former prisoner, provide a full name and TDCJ number, or exact birth date when the number is unknown. Specifically request incarceration history, release or discharge date and type, and the release certificate. A favorable parole vote is not the release. Plan review, programs, conditions, and certificate processing may remain.
Caldwell County Recent Release Search
The official Caldwell Sheriff page publishes no 24-hour list, 72-hour list, historical release archive, conventional roster, or booking-photo feed. This is an absent feed, not a feed with no names today. The Sheriff instead directs visitors to IVSS-Counties. IVSS updates status around the clock, but that statement does not turn it into a rolling release list. It also gives no public retention period for former bookings.

Caldwell Post-Release Supervision Records
Parole and mandatory supervision are state matters handled through BPP and the TDCJ Parole Division. Probation, formally called community supervision, is ordered by a court and managed locally by the Caldwell, Comal & Hays Community Supervision and Corrections Department. A person on parole has left prison but still serves the balance under supervision. A person on probation may never have served a prison term. ICE ODLS searches immigration detention, while EOIR reports court proceedings rather than custody. USMS has no comparable public name locator for federal pretrial prisoners. PACER orders may explain the case but not the exact physical release time. No official source places a BOP, ICE, or USMS detention facility inside Caldwell County.

Caldwell County Release Facilities
Caldwell County Jail is the Sheriff-operated county facility at 1204 Reed Drive. A departure may be a community release, a court-directed event, sentence completion, or transfer. Sheriff, IVSS, county release records, and the court case form its evidence chain.
Gregory S. Coleman Unit is a contract-operated TDCJ women's prison at 1400 Industrial Boulevard. Its community releases occur through parole, mandatory supervision, or discharge, while a move to another unit is a transfer. TDCJ history, BPP records, release processing, and a certificate are the correct sources.
Two Caldwell Release Systems
Caldwell County's two detention facilities sit in the same county but belong to separate legal systems. The official county RFP describes the jail as a 301-bed facility with an average population generally from 190 to 230. TDCJ lists Coleman Unit as a 1,000-capacity female facility run under contract by Management & Training Corporation. Those figures describe capacity and population, not yearly releases.
Location alone cannot choose the search. A transfer from the jail to Coleman is not community release. A parole from Coleman ends prison confinement but starts or continues state supervision. Always keep the facility name and operator attached to the record.
Caldwell Release Records by Court
Caldwell criminal records split by case level. The County Clerk handles misdemeanor court records, while the District Clerk handles felony and district criminal matters. The tri-county CSCD maintains a District Resource Center at 401 E. Market in Lockhart and publishes officer-referral program and treatment information. It is a navigation point for people under court-ordered supervision. It is not a public search for released people, and it is not the TDCJ parole office.
Programs generally require an officer referral. A person leaving jail on a court order should use the order and assigned officer for reporting instructions. Someone leaving Coleman on parole or mandatory supervision should use the TDCJ certificate and responsible district parole office instead.

No reviewed source promises a jail pickup, a Coleman gate stop, or service after an evening release. Confirm eligibility, reservation needs, pickup point, fare, and schedule directly with CARTS before relying on the trip. The jail also publishes no release counter hours or family waiting-area instructions, so call ahead.
Caldwell Release Records After Expunction
The District Clerk publishes a local expunction agency list that includes the clerks, District Attorney, County Court at Law, Adult Probation, Sheriff, TDCJ, DPS, and OCA or re:SearchTX. That breadth shows why arrest, case, custody, and release facts can exist in several systems. The page lists a 350-dollar base filing fee plus 25 dollars for each agency mailing, but fees must be checked before filing.
